Help and FAQ
Short answers about your account, paying, downloads and more.
Account and sign-in
How do I create an account?
Enter your email address on the sign-in page. You get a 6-digit code that is valid for 10 minutes. The same step signs you in and creates your account the first time. There is no password.
The code doesn't arrive. What now?
Check your spam folder and the spelling of your address. You can request a new code on the sign-in page.
What is a passkey?
A passkey signs you in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN, without a code. You set it up in the settings after signing in. Without a passkey you simply keep using the email code.
Credits and service fee
How do I pay?
You top up credits and buy with them. 1 € of credit costs 1 €. You can top up between €10.00 and €200.00 at a time, by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or EPS.
What is the service fee for?
Each top-up costs €0.39 extra, the same for every payment method. It covers payment processing, so the artist gets the full 90 % of every purchase. Buying itself adds nothing.
Do I get receipts?
Yes, for every top-up and every purchase. You find them all on the credits page.
Buying and cart
How do I buy music?
On every release page you buy the whole release or single tracks. If your credit is not enough, you top up the missing amount and continue straight away.
What is the cart for?
Collect releases and tracks from different artists and pay for everything at once. Tracks you already own are credited towards a release.
Where do I find what I bought?
In your collection. Download everything again at any time, one track at a time or a whole release as a ZIP.
Downloads and formats
Which format should I choose?
FLAC suits most people. ALAC is meant for the Apple Music app, WAV for DJ software, but it is up to twice as large. All three are lossless, up to 24 bit / 192 kHz.
Which app plays the files?
FLAC for example with VLC, foobar2000 or most music apps on Android. ALAC with Apple Music on Mac, iPhone and iPad. WAV with almost any player and with DJ software like Rekordbox, Serato or Traktor.
Playback in original quality
How do I listen to music I haven't bought?
Guests hear 30 seconds. Signed in, you hear most songs in full length in stream quality (AAC), unless the artist has set a release to preview only.
Does Bitsound play purchased music lossless?
Yes. Purchased tracks play in original quality in the player. In the player's quality menu you choose Always, Wi-Fi only or Never, for example to save mobile data.
Withdrawal and refunds
Can I return a top-up?
Yes, within 14 days. You get back the part you have not spent yet, to your original payment method. You do this right on the credits page.
And music I bought?
Downloads are available right away. That is why you agree when buying that your right of withdrawal ends for them. If something is wrong with a file, write to us through the contact form.
Privacy
What happens to my data?
We show no ads and do not track you. We only store what is needed for your account, purchases and accounting. You can delete your account in the settings.
For artists
How do I become an artist on Bitsound?
Sign-up for artists is not open yet. Under “For artists” you can put yourself on the list and we will email you as soon as it starts.
What happens after I sign up as an artist?
You create your artist project in the studio, upload your music lossless and set your own prices. Every release gets a short review before it goes live.
